Getting cardboard box in Osh for flying

Hey bicycle travelers,

we are flying soon from Osh and are looking to find two boxes for the bicycles. I could not find a bicycle shop that looked proimising so far.

Anybody has ideas or even done it before?

Randomly I'm getting asked by cyclists for cardboard boxes to ship their bikes. Our standard answer: "Sorry, we do not have such boxes. But go to a local supermarket, they may have big cardboard for air cargo. The super markets are FRUNZE Gypermarket (40.535869/72.808549), or GLOBUS (40.532372/72.807619).

Which I will try but I am not sure if we will suceed.

You could try asking at the TES Guesthouse, as that's where most of the cyclists stay when in Osh.

We tried a construction market at 40.51201 72.81856, especially places for doors, without any luck.

After that we went to Kelechek market at 40.53560 72.80255. At the area where trucks are unloading, we didn´t see anything promising. Also no big items on sale so we didn´t ask around much.

A guy send us to 40.54281 72.79261. He only spoke Russian so we don´t know exactly what to expect there. On OSM are bicycle shops in the area.

On the way there we saw a stack of big folded boxes behind a cinema (at 40.51484 72.80811) so we went into the cinema to ask. They gave us enough to build boxes. They are cubic, so expect some handwork.

The stack is big and there are many still. And it doesn´t look like they going to use them ever.

We did not try FRUNZE or Globus.

We stayed at Art Hotel Osh at 40.52547 72.79756 for around 8$ per night. Quite central and cute. They were very helpful.

just an update about cardboard boxes in osh! we found some flower shops who gave us big cardboard boxes but we needed to do some arts&crafts to wrap our bicycles.
then we went to the osh bazaar, between the iron repairs and the jewellery makers there are the bike repairs, and one of them had a room full of cardboard boxes! we had to pay him 400som per box, but now we have decent boxes! location 40.5436892N, 72.7920861E

If anyone has any recent experience of acquiring a bike box in Osh, I would be grateful to hear of an update. My wife and I will be departing Osh on 10 August. If there are any cyclists arriving in Osh and leaving their bike box, please let me know.
We will be leaving two bike boxes in Dushanbe on 12 July if anyone needs these for onward travel.

Update …
We found boxes exactly where Diana and Patric indicated. Thank you . He charged 500 som per box which was way too much, but no other options. Boxes in very poor condition, but will do the job.

Hello! I’m riding from Dushanbe to Osh next year and would like to know if anyone has any updates regarding the cardboard boxes in Osh to fly our bikes back to Europe.
