Bicycle service and repair in Almaty

Just posting for the community that I passed thru Almaty a few weeks ago and would highly recommend Elite Sport at ул. Желтоксан, 36 for bicycle repairs, service or parts/accessories. I talked to both them and Ekstremal and found Elite Sport considerably better stocked and more helpful -- was able to get my bike serviced quite well in just a few days after beating it up on rough roads for several months on the way to Almaty.

They Repaired my hydraulic breaks well for a good price.
The guy from Elite Sport told me that he don’t do service. Just change of discs.

Checking Almaty for buying some bicycles the last days we've walked into several different shops which we thought we'll just list here. Since we looked for bikes in general our judgements about their stocks are very superficial, but just to give you a very basic idea:

Elite Sports: see posts above, high quality, very well stocked, we checked two stores, they also have rental bikes (Giant) that you can buy (for about 150$)

One more thing to add to our post above. We believe we found THE bicycle guy in Almaty. He has a little garage on the Nikolskii Basar (43.249389, 76.926982) called "SportWave". Very friendly guy, extremely knowledgeable, very honest and fair prices (he has a heart for longterm cyclists!). He doesn't really speak english but one of his employees does. No matter if you need to repair something, need spare parts or even want to buy a bike - he is the man. And if he doesn't have the stuff you need he sure will be able to find it.
