One more thing I'll have to take into consideration is altitude sickness. Is anybody here who thumbed a lift from Osh to Sary Tash? Elevation increases from 963 up to 3170 m. (difference of 2207 m). Then cycling from Sary Tash to the Kyrgyz-Tajik border another 1200 m up, which should be probably divided into 2 day ride. Does anybody have any experience in riding that way and coming up against altitude sickness? I'm aware this is very individual but I want to know what you make of it

It's a possibility. If you feel the headache is too strong, descend immediately. Most people seem to deal with it fine.
