Cancelling flight booking for China visa application: best practices

Postby nielba » Thu Mar 14, 2019 5:39 pm

im not sure this is the right place but yeah, i will try..

so, basically i was looking for 100% reliable websites for booking and later cancelling flight tickets..
i already read few here but updated infos are always nice and comfy.. for example i was personally checking agent.ru and they say ur flight reservation lasts only 4h if u dont pay (and not few days as many "old" reports here)..

thx to everyone..!

skiplagged.com and priceline give you 24 hours. I think it can vary by the country you are in.

Emirates allow 6 hours, and up to 72 hours for a "small reservation fee".

I think all you need to bring is a print-out of the flight tickets, right? The embassy is not going to check if you really are boarding that plane or have cancelled in the meantime.

Unless I am wrong, you can simply book, print out, and cancel.

i mean, I know they are not going to check if I actually board the plane, but I guess I need the tickets to be real for the whole process of getting the visa, 4 days or whatever it is..
it I book one, print and in few hours it's already expired I don't even have the time to get to the embassy and submit the papers..

How did this work for you? Did you have to spend big money for a fully refundable ticket to cancel after you got the visa?

ooook so.. checking and checking around yatra.com has an option, on some flights, called hold for free, which allows you to reserve a booking for three days (checked briefly today the 26th, end of due 29th)
i will go through this when i will need it, hopefully it will work.. let you know..

but if someone has other informations pls share, practical stuff, not just "go there and there easy peasy safe travel".. a lot of people here talking about how easy it is to set up fake reservations etc but to me it really doesnt seem so..
