travelling with a van and taking a motorcycle with me: problem?

Post by worship_mud »

Hi there, dear knowledge hive at caravanistan!

i am thinking about travelling to and through UZ / TJ / KG with a van and take my registered and plated motorcycle with me, for some more in depth and offroad exploring (leaving the van during that time at a safe space)

are there any restrictions on taking a registered bike with me in my van? do i have to go through customs with it? has anyone done that before and could share his / her experiences?

I'm gratefull for every piece of info!

greetings from slovenia,

The same rules apply for your motorbike as for a car or motorbike when you riding it.
so documents, insurance etc...

at the borders there is
one rule
one driver = one vehicle
(one driver =/= two vehicles)

but of course
two drivers can use one vehicle (other driver can use your vehicle)
but with written permission (usually russian translation is ok for all the countries, if english - i don't know) from the owner to the other driver - name, address, passport number and driving licence data must be included, and must be sworn translated from your language
even if the owner is in the same vehicle

otherwise extraordinary customs papers and fees (like in commercial transport)

at the customs get the vremenny vvoz (temporary import) for every vehicle and don't lose it as you cannot leave without it
and it is good idea to take a (photo)copy of it on the exit the country (with exit of the vehicle confirmed of course)

We are also planning to so stg similar, so I Just want to Check If I understand this correctly.

We are a group of five.
4 are permanently riding motorbikes.
1 is riding a van. His motorbike ist INSIDE the van.
This means 5 people, 6 vehicles.
For all vehicles all the necessary papers are done.

I so bit understand why this should cause any Trouble?

it doesn't matter where it is
inside or outside
there are two vehicles and one driver

for importing two or more vehicles there are different (much complicated than vremennyy vvoz/temporary import) regulations
i don't know the details of the commercial import as i never needed
ask e.g. sambor (advfactory)
(he is now in kgz, could be out of reach)
