Possible to"park" motorcyles in Turkey while we fly to Kyrgyzstan?

Post by _Ellen_ »

Hello fellow travelers.
Since we can not reach Kyrgyzstan by land with our motorcycles, we are thinking of going at least to Iran and then on the way back to Spain through Turkey leave the bikes there "parked" and fly from Istanbul to Bishkek to rent there some motorcycles and tour the country.
Does anyone know if it could be a problem to leave the bikes for say 3/4 weeks in Turkey?
As I was told, when you enter Turkey with your motorcycles, they are registered in your passport as if you have entered the country with a vehicle.
If we fly to Kyrgyzstan can this be a problem?
Thanks in advance for your hepl

It looks like you already found the answer to your question.
The bikes will be registered on your passports. Leaving the country without them will involve a lot of hassle and paperwork.
I can suggest you to park them in Bulgaria (Motocamp in Idilevo is a great place to do it)

But my doubt is: can't I leave the bikes during 90 days in Turkey? If we stay less than 90 days we do not need any visa... I thought that the bikes could stay during this time in Turkey as long as we do not exceed the 90 days limit...

Believe me: Turkey is a very interesting country, but for sure not the best place to store a bike.
It is plenty of infos on the "usual" forums: Hubb or Advrider...
Bulgaria is the easiest option. Other options can be Georgia or Armenia, but, as you want to fly to Bishkek, I think you will prefer to be closer to Istanbul.
