Getting from Khujand to Samarkand

Hello,

I was wondering how one would get from Khujand to Samarkand for my trip in July. I would prefer not to do a bus so I was looking for private transfers or trains and could not find anything. Is there a route from Khujand to the Uzbek border, then a way to get to the train, or a private driver? I am open to other options as well, I can't find a lot. Most of it is from Samarkand to Khujand and not vice versa.

The best and most predictable way (for a tourist on a budget) is to go Khujand-Panjakent-Samarkand. It may even be possible to do it in just two separate taxi trips (some Khujand-Panjakent drivers can be talked into going past Panjakent to the border, and then you can get a driver on the other side of the border to Samarkand). But you will find way more Khujand-Dushanbe drivers in Khujand, so you may need to be patient. And this involves using shared taxis with other local people.
