BUYING A MOTOBIKE IN ALMATY

Hello,

I would like to know of it is possible for a foreigner to buy its own bike ideally in Almaty. I intend to keep it and travel the region for the next 2-3 years.
If YES, that means the bike would be in my name. is border crossing a pain or not for the bike? do you need canet in the Region?
If NOT, I crossed all of Africa on a bike I bought but that was not under my name - I had a stamped letter by police from the real owner that allowed me to use it and cross border. I circled all of Africa and South Europe this way without any problem (except Egypt because the carnet was not in my name. but we found a solution)... Has anyone done that?

Also does anyone know if there is an affordable second hand market for bikes - GS, DR, Tenere, KLR? good for off road in Almaty?
