I bought a car in the Republic of Georgia, and would like to sell it in Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan.
I have an offer for the car in Kazakhstan, but the buyer wants to keep the Georgian registration documents, and have me "sign the car over" to him through a notary. Because the car has been imported into the Eurasian customs zone temporarily for one year, I'm wondering if this would cause any problems for me when I leave the country, or perhaps if I try and return at some stage, or perhaps in Georgia.
The whole thing sounds dodgy to me, but that seems to be how things are done here.
Does anyone have experience selling a car this way in Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan? Would I be better off selling the car for scrap?
