Vehical Age Restrictions

Planning on going to most of the -stans, Iran and Russia. My Van is a 1998.

I have heard of some places it wont be allowed to enter because of the age. Whats the recent status?

hey, no problem we've entered in Russia and Mongolia with our 1990 Fiat Uno

We had issues with a 1994 car in Azerbaijan. The problem wasn't the age, but the engine's emission rating. They would only allow us a 3 day transit, but at the end they just recommended us to overstay that and pay a 20 Manat fine when exiting, which worked fine for us.

We came through Lagodeki / Balakan (from Georgia). We exited via Krasniy Most, back to Georgia.

Has anyone had any experience with this recently with Iran and the Stans? We'll be driving a pretty old camper through (also RHD) so hoping we won't have any issues with this!
