Hello all, among lots of other helpful advice I have not found any answer on one burning question. Any help is appreciated as I am in need of a quick solution with my visa running out in ten days.
I have been living and working in China for three years, during this time I have also bought a car (FAW-VW C-TREK). Now I am travelling through China, towards Kashgar with the plan of driving home to Germany. The planned route goes through Kyrgyzstan, Usbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Turkey -- everything is arranged for that.
Now comes the tricky part: Despite long research I haven't yet found a way of getting my car legally out of China. I am not returning, so an ATA carnet seems to be no option as I would lose a huge deposit. Obtaining an export permit seems to be quite difficult as apparently only the manufacturer or qualified export companies can issue this. Have tried obtaining one, but no luck so far.
Last, there is a customs policy for the export of personal belongings which I should qualify for. (Policy No. 194: Chapter 3: exported personal belongings http://www.customs.gov.cn/publish/porta ... 551078.htm // Application check list: http://beijing.customs.gov.cn/publish/p ... 785575.htm // Application form: http://www.customs.gov.cn/publish/porta ... 812524.htm )
However I haven't found anyone so far who knows how to go through that process successfully with a car.
Any hint is appreciated, thank you!
