Sergey can help you buy a car or motorbike in Kyrgyzstan

Postby Luca.bertag85 » Wed Aug 29, 2018 11:42 am

Hello I want to share my experience so I hope it can help someone. I was trying to buy a Ural sidecar but unfortunately didn't work out so I bought a Lada Niva 4x4 with the intention to drive from Kyrgyzstan to Italy. The process is the same for car or motorbike, you can't register the car on your name but you have to obtain the power of attorney and with that you are allowed to drive outside the country and reregister the car in your home country or sell it. To do that I have been helped from a friend named Sergei. He is great guy, quite busy because he is involved in helping homeless and guys in rehab. He speaks perfect English so he can help you to translate everything and he has already helped many travellers also in exporting vehicle. He can also help you to get the transit plate number on your vehicle but is not suggest this option because it is more expensive than the power of attorney and requires more paperwork to get it, but with this options you will be more a target for the police and can create more trouble at the crossing border. The easiest way is just to get the power of attorney.
You can contact Sergeiat for help on is Whatapps number at +996700176003

Thank you for sharing your experience Luca.

I am planning to do something like this and I have some doubts. You cannot register the car in your name because you are not living in Kyrgyzstan, right? Once you get the power of attorney, can you drive free (make tourism around the central asian countries) or must you drive toward your country in a specific route?

Thanks,
Paloma

Driving freely is not a problem.

If you are interested, we are planning to arrive in Bishkek at the end of April this year and will be looking to sell our vehicle. It is a Hyundai Terracan 4x4 (also with low ratio gearbox). It has a 2.9 diesel so is powerful, spacious and comfortable (large enough to sleep in the back), but also economical. The car is in great condition and the perfect vehicle for the Silk Road. We may also have a roof tent fitted which might also be for sale.
