End of September. Start in Almaty. Cross Karkara border. Finish in Bishkek. 11 full days. 4x4 car for the full duration.
We've read a lot of blog and forum posts. But still confused about what we can fit into the timeframe and which kind of clothes/gear to pack for very late September/first few days of October.
(a) Clothes/gear concerns. We'd like to do day hikes, discover mountain lakes, and sleep in a yurt. Is it too late due to the cold for a yurt? How cold does it get? Some places have mentioned that yurt accommodation features proper sleeping bags for those temperatures. Honestly, a bit lost with that part of the trip.
(b) Itinerary planning. What's actually feasible within this timeframe? Preferences: high altitude lakes, beautiful views and natural sights, day hikes, yurt experience, scenic drives. Could we get a taste of both the Tian Shan and Pamir ranges? Do we break the 4,000-meter altitude at some point during the drive? What's the rough estimate of the route extent we should start looking into?
Thank you so-so much to anyone who can give some friendly advice
