Bishkek to Tashkent via Shymkent

Post by xgo »

Hiya,

We need to go from Bishkek to Tashkent beginning of August and we were wondering what is the best overland option. According to another thread (http://caravanistan.com/forum/viewtopic ... kent#p6191), it seems that it is possible to catch a train from Bishkek (Bishkek I or II, does anyone know?) to Shymkent and then a bus (or even also train?) from Shymkent to Tashkent. We have found this (http://www.tutu.travel/poezda/rasp_d.ph ... 01.08.2016) but we are not sure about how reliable this schedule is.

Could anyone give any tip on this? What is the most comfortable/quick option?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi,

have a look at https://caravanistan.com/uzbekistan/cen ... t/#bishkek for a round-up of all your options. There's a direct bus, and in summer, a train.

There is also "direct" buses from bishkek to Tashkent through Kazakhstan. We took one leaving Bishkek in the new (west) autovagzal (you can buy your ticket days in advence in the kassa, inside the building). It was a night travel in a big bus, leaving us around one km of Kazakh/Uzbek border.
After the long boarder crossing, it's shared taxi to Tashkent center.
