Baikonur Cosmodrome

Postby Chrisg44 » Wed Jul 13, 2016 5:56 pm

Is it possible to visit the actual Cosmodrome without their being an actual launch? From what we've read we appreciate we will need a tour company to organise us a tour however our time in Kazakhstan unfortunately does not coincide with a launch so were wondering if it were possible at other times? Does anyone know if the town of Baikonur is worth visiting or if all the interesting bits are within the Cosmodrome itself?

Thanks in advance,

Chris and Elspeth

Yes it is possible i think and should be a lot easier since launches continously get cancelled due to bad weather. The town of baikonur likely (never been there) holds no more interest than any other town in kazakhstan, with the exception of some curiosities - thigs are a lot more russian there.
