Uzbekistan in 13 days - help please!

Postby leela » Sun Dec 29, 2013 12:18 pm

It's not long, I know. But suggestions for an efficient use of that time to see as much as we can would be appreciated. Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva are must sees, of course, but my travelling companion would also like to get to the Ferghana valley.

If anyone could suggest an efficient route (train travel is our most llikely means of transport, but we're flexible), I'd really appreciate it. We'll be flying into and out of Tashkent.

Hi Leela,

a traditional route would be

Tashkent - Samarkand/Shakrisabz - Bukhara - Khiva, then a long train or a flight back to Tashkent. Bukhara is the most lively and pleasant of the 4.

2 days in each city means you have 4-5 days left for Ferghana Valley: choose between Kokand, Margilan, Rishton, Fergana or Andijan.

I'm working on some itineraries for Uzbekistan, will upload them in a few weeks hopefully - this should help as well.

Thank you. That's helpful. And I'll be very interested to read those itineraries, when they're ready.
