Kazakhstan 2017 (Baikonur included)

Postby Yirina » Sat Dec 09, 2017 11:18 am

Hi, we have been in Kazakhstan in September 2017. We started in Astana then continued to Baikonur and Almaty. A back to Astana by high speed train Talgo. My trip reports are in Czech language, but some screens of itineraries are in English and of course - a lot of pictures which say more than words.

Astana city:

Baikonuir - first day:

Baikonur - second day: (launch of the Soyuz MS-06 included)

Baikonur - third day:

This is really great, thank you!
It is the first time that I see such a rich and detailed report about a visit to Baikonur closed zone.

I tried with google translate, but it looks like he doesn't like Czech language that much.
I really hope you will find time to translate your blog to english and I promise you it will become my favourite winter reading :-)

Thank you so much. Maybe in the future I´ll prepare some shorter version of Baikonur Trip report as I understand it may be helpful for another traveler interested in going there :-)

Thank you very much Yirina,
I will not be the only one, I'm pretty sure even Steven will be happy to share your infos on this website.

I visited Baikonur from outside last year, and I would like to visit what's after those walls...

Ah, this is marvellous. Thanks Yirina, I've always wanted to see how Baikonur looked like, was royally bummed when I couldn't see much (read anything) through the train windows and, given the pricetag, it's unlikely I'll ever be able to get there. But now it feels as if I did!
