I've been plotting a trip through Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Xinjiang but am running into some difficulties finding out whether I can get between Kokand and Bishkek without going through Tashkent or Osh. I want to avoid backtracking through Tashkent, and I plan to go from Osh to Kashgar so I'll be heading through there anyways later. Has anyone made that trip recently, or have any tips on it? Thanks in advance!
Probably yes, via Jalal-Abad, but as Kokand-Tashkent takes only 4 hours by train due to the new tunnel, going around the mountains via Tashkent will be a lot faster than through them...
