Ishkashim border crossing (and market): open or closed?

We just passed Ishkashim yesterday.
Some locals here in Khorog told us that the marked was damaged by a flood and needs to be repared. To us it seemed not damaged at all and locals in Ishkashim told us its closed because its to dangerous at the moment because of the Taliban.
(The border it self there didn't look either that they will open soon again)
We intended to go to the Afghan Whakan and talked in person to the consulate here in Khorog. He admited its not the best time to go even Wakhan should be save. Thats why we decided to stay on the Tajikian side which was amazing!
Currently there's a lot of Taliban activity in this area and the homestay we stayed with was honestly concerned.

Update: the market has been closed for the past 3 months. No further info on possible opening in summer.

According to this post (in French) on is Facebook page from a person who is in the region, the border in both Khorog and Ishkashim are currently open

The borders are open (I believe the Ishkashim border was only very briefly closed), but the Ishkashim market remains closed according to that report. The good news is that he reports the Khorog border market being open.

Do you mean the border to Afghanistsn at Ishkashim is closed completely, or just for access to the (non-existant) market? The previous post from a week ago (by user OneChai) seemed to indicate that entry to Afghanistan was open around that same time?

I was there early July. According to our Tajik guide, the border at Ishkashim is open, as long as you have a visa for Afghanistan. He told us the border may seem deserted, as there is no market anymore, but he showed us there is a security camera. If they see you waiting at the closed gate to actually go through immigration and on to Afghanistan, someone will eventually show up.

I am in Khorogh and can confirm that the border at Khorogh is open-- some people at our hostel just came back from Afghanistan yesterday via the Khorogh/Shugnan border. I am told by PECTA that the Ishkashim borded is open, too.

PECTA says both borders will be closed between August 25 and September 10 (approximately) due to some holiday.

Update from Ishkoshim customs post: Bazaar closed till June due to snow on the Afghan side.
