First report is in, via e-mail, person came from Kyrgyzstan:

I only went for a visa run and we were on our own car which we parked by the border for 50 som. But traffic was backed up for people on their own cars like 20 cars and moved very slow, but even more so for the semi trucks, line for the trucks was at least 2 km long.

But for pedestrians, we went during peak hours and it took us around an hour for the whole process.

Hi there,

did border crossing on Saturday February 29. Business as usual if you plan to go from Almaty to Bishkek:
1.Sayran bus station, take marshrutka, pay 1800 Tenge
2. Marshrutka brings you to Kordai - BUT only local Kazakh or Kyrgyz are allowed to cross
3. People with foreign passport: Stay in marshrutka. The driver will bring you to Ak-Tilek (also known as "Black River" (in Russian "Tshornaja Retshka") or "Kara Suu" (Kazakh) --> its all the same place!! The ride from Kordai to Ak-Tilek doesnt take long, its only about 20 km-ish.
4. Get off Marshrutka, cross the border
5. Marshrutka will wait for you on Kyrgyz side and brings you to Bishkek

IF you don't plan to go all the way to Bishek (visa run) - There is no Marshrutka waiting on Kazkah side to bring you to Almaty. But a bunch of taxi drivers, so be ready to negotiate. You can either go with them back to Kordai (1000 Tenge-ish) and then take a Marshrutka (Kordai-Almaty 1500 Tenge) OR ask them to bring you to Almaty in a random car. We negotiated 3500 Tenge/person with only 3 passengers from Ak-Tilek to Almaty.

Save travels!

PS: No Corona-checks whatssoever when entering KZ! Everyone will be checked with a temperature-camera (dont know what they are called), not only certain nationalities - BUT ONLY WHEN ENTERING KYRGYSTAN. Kazakhs didnt care at all!
