Re: Chinese border crossings: open or closed?
FYI Irkeshtam border opened on October 8 this year. The following sources or contacts predicted it correctly:
* Kyrgyz news website http://www.kabar.kg/eng. There are lots of other news posts so need to search the posts for words like "Irkeshtam". They also reported the Victory over Japan in WW2 celebration and Eid closures in September.
* CBT Osh after call to Kyrgyz border control or someone
* Swiss embassy in China, so maybe ask your embassy in China.

Re: Chinese border crossings: open or closed?
SinoRussian borders:
In 2018 Suifenhe/Pogranichniy has been closed from 15/02 to 21/02 (Chinese New year); Hunchun/Slavyanka from 15/02 to 18/02 (Chinese New year) and on 05/04 (Qingming Festival).
However, I got information that trains were running as usual from Suifenhe to Grodekovo during holidays.

Re: Chinese border crossings: open or closed?
Hello,
About the closure of Bulgan/Takashiken (Mongolia-China) border crossing during the chinese new year holidays 2019,
after some calls it looks that they are officially closed the 5/02, 6/02 and 7/02.
They said they are opened on monday 04/02 and friday 08/02, but it is not sure. The mining company using the border every day said they will not work on friday 8/02 because "nobody knows if the border will be opened", as they said. They will start work again on the 11/02 for sure.
Takashiken border crossing phone numbers (I guess they speak only chinese, but you can try in english...):
+86 0906 883 3110
+86 0906 858 8621
Their WeChat account ID: 塔克什肯边防检查站 (not sure they will reply there, but they give informations sometimes)
