Is the road, border or area open and accessible to foreigners? Is there danger?

what about the no-mans-land between tjk and kgz border posts?
Hitchhiking. I got the ride from Karakul to Kyrgyztan/ Osh. I think I had lot of luck on that day. A couple with the rented car stopped for me after 20 min of waiting/ walking.
Those with "tours" probably won't do it, because they paid a lot. Otherwise one of those "tours" gave me a free ride to Karakul.
Hitchhiking is same like the weather - we can't predict it in advance. Anyway, it's much more fun and adventurous ;)

From what I understand, the border is now open to foreigners but closed to locals; is that still true? If that's the case, how are people crossing no-man's land between the two border posts? Walking? That seems like a far distance to walk.

Has anyone crossed recently and confirm the situation??

The drivers from each side are allowed to go into the 'no mans land' until the border, they are just not allowed to cross it. So when you arrange the crossing drivers from both countries meet at the pass, you change the cars and each driver return back to its country.

Awesome, great to hear. Not planning on bringing a tent with me, so didn't want to get stranded in no-man's land!

I'm planning to cross the border from Tajikistan into Kyrgyzstan, (towards Osh) sometime around July 10-14th if anyone wants to join. Probably gonna try the hitchhiker version.
I'll be coming via Pakistan-China-Tajikistan (Murghab) in case anyone has a similar route.

Does anyone got any experience crossing the Kyzyl-Art Pass with the Kyrgyzstan Evisa?

Attempting to do the Pamir hightway from Tajikistan via Kyzyl-Art Pass into Kyrgyzstan by road, wonder if it's possible for the evisa, (given that I have successfully obtained the permission from Destination Pamir Erali by paying $15 at the Tajikistan side)

As i see it from the visa application website, I can't see Kyzyl-Art Pass on the list of border crossing checkpoint list. https://www.evisa.e-gov.kg/get_information.php?lng=en

Keep us updated about how it goes! I was planning to hitchhike/public transport from Murgab sometime around mid-August.

Has anyone crossed from Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan using public transport and/or hitchhiking? If so, how did you organize the pick-up in 'no-man's land' with a Kyrgz driver?? I'm planning to do this from Murgab to Osh, but not sure how to arrange a Kyrgz driver to meet me somewhere for the exchange to get across the border.

I’ll be crossing the Kyzyl Art border Tajikistan into Kyrgyzstan with my family. The agency we have gone with recommended from the tourism department has given us a document number to tell the border guards and date of submission but no email. Has anyone else had this experience? Don’t want to be stuck up at the border. 😬
