Border crossing is still possible. We made our way through Russia in the last few days. Border officials were very friendly and we did not come across major problems.

Got the visas in Tiblisi and crossed the border, no problem. I’d recommend arriving at the border before 7 a.m. and filling out the necessary form for your vehicle in advance, will save you a lot of time.

Sounds like you drove with your own car?
Does anyone has any recent experience with a bicycle?
What do I need to consider when applying for a transitvisa?
Or is it hopeless by bicycle?
I am thinking about cycling with my girlfriend trough russia to kasachstan in mid july. Thankfull for any thoughts.

Thanks for the advice. Here is the link to the blank form. (I searched for a little while, so maybe it is helpful for anybody ;D)
Note: you only need to fill the first two pages, and you need two copies. Chose "PASSENGER CUSTOM DECLERATION" under the following link:
https://eng.customs.gov.ru/activities/i ... eclaration
Arriving at the border early is key (ideally before 07.00 am)! We made it in 1,5 hours yesterday.
Thanks

Max

Would love to follow for feedback from anyone who has crossed recently. I plan to cross in a few days as a UK citizen and am a little nervous

I crossed this border on 2023-06-22 as a Swedish citizen with my Sweden registered Volvo car without dramatic happening or delays.MikeTheLiid wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 12:57 pmWould love to follow for feedback from anyone who has crossed recently. After passport control I was asked few general questions by a very friendly young FSB officer in the parking area, the questioning took 5-10 minutes.
The entire crossing took about 2 hours.
If you are just a traveler like me not a spy or smuggler

I crossed the border with my own car, I applied for a transit visa as I was crossing in to Kazakhstan from Russia.
I had to translate my EU driver license, car registration with notary.
The translation, notary took about a week and I got the vista in 4 days after submitting all documents in Tbilisi.

Hi Hamsafar
Glad to hear you got the transit visa! Quick question - did you secure multiple entry transit visa? I'm headed for Georgia in mid August and am also hoping to enter into Kazhakstan through Russia. However, I will also need to return the same way about 35 days later.
Would also really appreciate the details of the notary in Tbilisi - I might forward my details to them early in order to save time.
Cheers, Jimmy
