Arshaty-Olgii border crossing?

Is the road, border or area open and accessible to foreigners? Is there danger?

And if I fly from Almaty to Irkutsk and take than the way to the West the A 333 to Mondy (Russia) an than to Khankh at the Khovsgol-Lake (Mongolei)?
Is the border open there?

Hey Klaus,

there may be flights from Almaty to Irkutsk, but the border post between Mondy (Russia) and Khankh (Mongolia) is only bilateral. There are frequent discussions to open it for all passports but not in the foreseeable future. But you can take a flight to Nowosibirsk instead and go via the Russian Altai to Tashanta border post in the far nothwest of Mongolia, which is open for all passports.
