Is the road, border or area open and accessible to foreigners? Is there danger?

here is bordobo:

so if they really were caught south of daroot, the news were wrong (as usually).

well... we, the poles, are known for our fantasy. as napoleon said, looking at the polish lancers charging: "un polonais passe par tout" ;)
(btw, small digression: we are the only nation that conquered moscow twice, in 1610 in reply for swedish-russian assault and in 1815 as forefront of napoleon's army. moreover only tokhtamysh khan, a gengis' descendant, had conquered, and burned, moscow in 1382).

so if they were stopped south od daroot maybe they were to cross altyn mazar and heading south to fedchenko glacier (of course leaving the car somewhere near altyn mazar) or west to muk su valley - impassable for the cars. in 2012 i tried to travel along the valley from the west, but reached only this point: https://goo.gl/maps/BsPnvauPrSx because the bridge looked like on the picture below, destroyed by a sil (rapid mountain strom):

Thank you for that, Mazeno! Russians clearly very eager to pass off tourists as "foreign agents". I will add an extra warning to the border crossings page, did not know about these other people getting arrested.

boarder crossings kyrgizstan - Tajikistan

Post by Ellen Slaedts »

Hi,

We are planning a 4x4 trip end of March 2017 starting and ending in Osh. We want te drive the Pamir Highway.
Our plan is to first cross the boarder in Sary Tash, follow the pamir highway and again cross the boarder in Karamik to get back in Kyrgizstan.
We are wondering what is the current status of the boarder crossing in Karamik. Can someone tell us if it is open for travellers?
If not, wich other options to make our way back to Osh do we have?

Thank you!

Hi,
I just received the information about the border crossing on the A372 (Karamik). The border crossing on the A372 is unfortunately not open for tourists only for local people. The Pamir Highway M41 and the Kyzyl-Art Pass are open all year round. Short-term locks may occur due to poor weather conditions such as rain or snowfall but this is only seasonal result.

In Khudjand there are 2 or 3 border crossings to Batken in Kyrgyzstan. From there you come back to Osh.

If you are looking for information about Kyrgyzstan, Pamir Highway, pass roads you can find here on my website.
Highest mountain roads & Passes in Pamir, Tian Shan and Alay Mountains

Nice greetings from Kyzyl-Tuu

A very in-depth article about border crossings of Tajikistan can be found at http://caravanistan.com/border-crossings/tajikistan/

Karamyk, Jirigital - Daroot Korgan border crossing

Post by goneforawander »

Does anyone have information whether this is open to foreigners now? If so, is there any transport from Dushanbe that would go this way?
Thanks.

As for Mid-January 2019
Karamyk still closed for foreigners, only tajik and kyrgyz citizens allowed to cross this border crossing.

Hi guys,
We have read the article, have seen the posts on the forum, and are assuming the border is still closed, however, just out of curiosity: any updates?
Cheers,
Nikki
