Can anyone tell me how good/fast the internet quality is in Karakol? Thinking of visiting in the Spring and need decent internet for work. Particularly interested in if the Tent Hostel has solid internet. Thanks!

Hi vantexan,

there are definitely hostels to be found with good wifi. In general I would say hostel wifi is definitely good enough to do work if all you need to do is send emails and watch the occasional youtube instructional video.

Thanks Steven! Any idea whether Nomad's Home guesthouse in Bishkek is still open? No recent reviews found and no response to two emails.

A lot of places close down in winter in Bishkek. Nomad's home is probably one of them. They are very cheap, so they need volume, which is harder to come by in winter. Not sure when they might open again.

Depending on when you are going in spring, you might want to shell out for a hostel with decent heating.
