We are planning to travel from Germany to Mongolia and back in our Toyota Land Cruiser for a total of 12 months starting in 2020. We have seen that March/April are popular months to start such a trip from Europe. For work reasons, starting in September/October would be better, but it's not a must. Since we are still indecisive of when to start, I have put together two rough routes and would love to hear your thoughts:
October-December: Balkans, Greece, Turkey
January-March: Iran, Pakistan, India, (Nepal, Bhutan, India,) Pakistan
April-July: Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia, Russia
August-September: Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary
March-May: Balkans, Greece, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia
June-September: Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan
October-November: Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan (,Turkmenistan)
December-February: Iran, Turkey, Greece, Italy
What do you think about these options and timing?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

I would say there are both really ambitious plans. Option B sounds the most feasible. I would go Balkans - Turkey- Caucasus - Russia - Mongolia - China/Russia - Kaz - Kyrg - Taj - Uz - Turkm - Iran - Turkey - home
