I've been in the area in 2017 and Zalanash had no ships anymore. There were some between Zalanash and Aqespe: a tanker for Vozrozhdenya and a couple of fishing trawlers. Serik might have more info.

awty - a tanker - you mean this one?
https://goo.gl/maps/254ccNFtw6AjH2tF9

have you been only to zalanash (former harbor) or maybe southern coast of the solonchak?
i mean these pinpoints:

https://goo.gl/maps/tZ2VrgP6wu82nAs1A
https://goo.gl/maps/LFNQGj4aFuMgQktV7
the question is to get known if it is worth to detour these 150km of gravel - i'll drive with a fella who had never been to the stans before and of course we plan to go to moynak on the way east, so zalanash could be only an addition on the way back home - but not a must.
and probably we're not going to visit akespe as it is much longer detour and needs some remote offroad from the road aral-zalanash or another long detour via saksaulsky (especially that we'll drive not a 4x4 this time but a "civilian" car and it could be little "tired" after the whole excursion).

and one more q:
do you have any e-mail contact to serik except fb?
i don't use fb at all.
u may write me prv or add some additional spaces to his email to be not exposed to spamers.

Hi there Mazeno

I'm afraid my Google maps doesn't seem to show the tanker. However the way we did it with Serik was: departure from Aralsk, then drive to the hot spring, the on to Aqespe. After Aqespe we drove on the shore of the sea - North shore only - to Zalanash and from there back to Aralsk. The shipwrecks we saw were on the shoreline of the sea, driving back from Aqespe.

I don't have Serik's email but I do have his phone number, will PM it to you. He's on WhatsApp.

I was in the area in 2016.
Just some parts of the ships were still there.
At this link you can find my report of that trip with some pictures. Sorry, it is in italian...
