Thanks for the additional replies! Unfortunately our shooting got cancelled this year for obvious reasons, so we're planning a new one in May... 2021. We'll have more prep time so maybe this is not so bad after all.
I checked out the two sites in Kgz for balbals, we didn't plan on crossing the border but if we can't find balbals in Kazakhstan we might change our mind, those sites aren't far from the border!

I'll probably come back with more questions once we get back into the writing.
