Car rental Almaty-Turkestan

Greetings,

We are thinking of renting a car in Almaty, and taking a road trip all the way to Turkestan (do you recommend visiting it?), then returning to Almaty by train. Are there car rentals in Almaty, where cars can be returned in Turkestan?

Hertz or Europcar might offer such a service to Shymkent, I am not sure. Do let us know if they do.

Turkestan is impressive in its own right, with the car you can visit some more isolated ruins and sacred places like eg Sauran, Aisha Bibi, ...

Poking this ancient thread. I'm considering doing a similar trip, but not finding much info on renting a car one-way from Almaty to Shymkent.

I don't think it is possible without paying for the pick-up fee to get someone to drive your car back to Almaty.
