Hi all!
As you might see, I'm just new here.. I didn't see any other topic about our subject, but I think that doesn't matter much any way..
Any day this week my girlfriend and I will leave the Netherlands in a Land Rover Defender. Our plan is to drive our car all the way from Amsterdam to Singapore. Quiet a long way. We have all the documents needed (carnet the passage, visa Iran/Pakistan/India) and we are really excited about the trip.
However, Pakistan .. We still have some doubts. And I think some of you might understand. We are not 100% yet if we will cross the country or if we will look for a boat/ferry from Iran that brings us to India. We will decide in time.. Of course we found a lot of useful information on the internet, but we are also wondering if there is more to it and there might be some inside information.
We will probably arrive in Pakistan around mid-november. Is someone else going there? Maybe it is possible to drive in convoy!
Or maybe there is just someone who would like to share their experience and knowledge?!
Thanks a lot and safe travels,
David

We are driving from Amsterdam to Singapore in our Land Rover Defender. Interested to see how we do this and where we are going? And maybe we can meet on the road somewhere?

It is allowed, David:-)
Is there risk? Yes. Do people do it and come out unharmed? Also yes. It depends on what kind of tolerance for risk you have if you want to do it in the end. Until quetta you get an armed escort, afterwards you are on your own, as i understand it. I haven't done it myself so cannot advise anything really of use, to be honest. But please keep us up to date with what you end up doing, it is not a common route at the moment and i do not get a lot of info.

Re: Driving through Pakistan
I doubt that the Iranians will allow you to drive from Zahedan to the border without an escort. And I don't think that you can just turn up and expect to travel when it suits you, so allow some flexibility in that section of your trip. Do you have your visas for Pakistan?

Re: Driving through Pakistan
Hello fellow Dutchie. We crossed from Iran to Pakistan in June. Although we didn't drive ourselve, the process is roughy the same. I'm also in contact with someone who did drive himself, about a week ago.
Here's a guide on crossing the border http://lostwithpurpose.com/report-cross ... eh-taftan/
If you need any more info, let me know. Traveled from the border to Karachi, and from there slowly to China, so we crossed a large part of the country.
