Yandex - blocked?

Hi. I have downloaded Yandex and Yango as I will be arriving in Kazakhstan tonight. But when I enter my UK mobile number I do not get the SMS code. I'm using esim for all my travelling so only have a UK number for SMS. Is there a way around this? Or do I just need to buy a local sim to allow it to register my account?

I had the same Issue, but since the last App-Update it worked for me and my German number, I received the SMS code.

To my surprise I was just able to download the yandex go app on both android and ios. Tried previously, but did‘t work back then.

Have not yet tried to sign-up. I might follow up with an update.

I posted this in a thread in Uzbekistan, but reposting here too:

I got Yandex Go working with a UK phone number. I downloaded the app from the Play store as normal, but couldn't make an account with my phone number.
I made an account using my email on the app (just press "log in" after entering your email and it registers you: https://yandex.com/support/id/authoriza ... ation.html )
Then after putting in the code it sends to my email and adding a password, I tried to add a card, it asks for my phone number, and works with a UK +44 number.

I currently can't add a credit card though, it says to contact support. Not sure if it's because of sanctions, or because I'm on a terrible connection behind the Chinese great firewall, I'll edit in a few days when I'm over the border.
Google Pay *seems* to work but I haven't tested a transaction yet, so it might fail.
Edit: Yandex works fine using Google Pay, and I can hire a scooter with a UK debit card.

Do they have Yandex in China? I recall only being able to add card when I changed my location to a country/city where they operate.
