See the contrast of the country by taking this unforgettable train journey in Uzbekistan! Starting in Tashkent we head east to rarely visited Ferghana valley to meet famous potters and silk weavers. Later we follow an old caravan route south where you see the fine Islamic architecture of Bukhara and Samarkand. You will also get a glimpse of life in a desert by staying in Kyzylkum camp site and visiting Ancient Khorezm near Khiva.

Day 1. Arrive Tashkent
Arrive Tashkent, welcome at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
Afternoon sightseeing tour of Tashkent: Abdul Kasim Madrassah, Khast Imam Complex – a religious center of the city consisting of the Barakkhan Madrasah, Kaffal Shashi Mausoleum and the library of Islamic Literature with the Holy Koran Book of the VII century.
Visiting modern part of Tashkent by metro: Amir Timur Square, Applied Art Museum, Earthquake Memorial, Independence Square. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2. Tashkent – Kokand – Rishtan – Ferghana
Early breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the railway station at 07:00 for train Tashkent-Kokand, departing at 08:05. Arrive Kokand at 12:15, meeting at the railway station and starting city tour: Juma (Friday) Mosque, Khudoyar-Khan Palace, Kamol-Kazy Madrassah, and Norbut-biy Madrassah.
Drive to Rishtan town, famous for ceramic production where you will visit the house of a well-known ceramic master. Drive to Ferghana. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3. Ferghana – Margilan – Tashkent
Breakfast in the hotel. Drive to Margilan, visit Said Akhmad-Khoja Madrassah. Nowadays it houses craftsmen shops with handmade carpets and silk. Continue to Yodgorlik Silk factory to see the production process of silk with traditional Ikat patterns. Transfer to the railway station for train Margilan-Tashkent, departing at 16:20. Arrive Tashkent at 21:25, transfer to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 4. Tashkent – Bukhara
Early breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the railway station at 07:00 for train Tashkent-Bukhara, departing at 08:00. Arrive Bukhara at 11:50, meeting at the railway station and starting city tour: Ark Fortress, Bolo Hauz Mosque, Samanids Mausoleum, Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum.
Walking tour: Poi-Kalyan complex with Kalyan Minaret (XII C) through orient bazaars with three trade domes of Toki Zargaron, Toki Sarrafon, Toki Telpak Furushon, Ulugbek Madrassah, Abdulazizkhan Madrassah to the Lyabi Hauz complex, surrounded by ancient mulberry trees. Overnight at hotel.
Day 5. Bukhara
Breakfast in the hotel. Visit to Chor-Minor (Four Minarets), Sitorai Mokhi Khosa – summer residence of the last Emir of Bukhara, Baghautdin Nakhshbandi Complex – a center of Sufism. Drive back to Bukhara. Overnight at hotel.
Day 6. Bukhara – Aydar Yurt Camp (Kizylkum Desert)
Breakfast in the hotel. Drive to Aydarkul with a stop in Nurata (no guide). Visiting ruins and fortifications remained after Alexander the Great, saint spring and medieval mosque Namazgokh. Transfer to the yurt camp. Camel riding instructions and then camel riding (around camp – for free). Overnight in yurts.
Day 7. Aydar Yurt Camp – Samarkand
After breakfast camel riding to the Aydarkul Lake through the desert. Swimming, fishing on the lake. Camel riding to the lake is an optional service and subject to extra fee – about 20$ per person.
In the afternoon depart yurt camp and drive to Samarkand. Arrive Samarkand, transfer to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 8. Samarkand
Breakfast in the hotel. We will start sightseeing from Registan Square (which means “desert” in Persian) and three madrassahs (religious study centers) surrounding the square: Ulughbek Madrassah, Sher-Dor Madrassah, and Tillya-Kari Madrassah – covered with gold. Visit to Gur Emir Mausoleum (tomb of Tamerlane), Shakhi Zinda Necropolis. Continue sightseeing with Bibi Khanym Mosque – built by Amir Timur (Tamerlane) in XV century and Siyab Bazaar. Wine tasting at Khovrenko Winery. Overnight at hotel.
Day 9. Samarkand – Urgench
Breakfast in the hotel. Free time. Check-out at noon. In the afternoon continue sightseeing tour in Samarkand: Ulugbek Observatory, excavation of an ancient city and museum of Afrosiab, Tombstone of Saint Daniyar. Transfer to the railway station. In the night (00:30+1) departure with train to Urgench. Overnight in train.
Day 10. Urgench – Khiva
Arrive Urgench at 12:55 pm. Transfer to Khiva. Hotel check-in. Sightseeing of Khiva – inner town of Ichan Kala (XIV-XX CC) with Muhamad Amin Khan Madrassah, Kalta Minor Minaret, Kunya Ark, Muhamad Rahim Khan Madrassah, Juma Mosque and Minaret, Tash Hauli Palace. Visit Islam Khodja Minaret and Madrassah, Shirgazi Khan Madrassah, Pahlavan Mahmud Mausoleum. Overnight at hotel.
Day 11. Khiva
Breakfast in the hotel. Drive outside Khiva to visit the archaeological monuments of Ancient Khorezm. In written sources of the Arab conquest period, Khorezm is called a country of “tens of thousands of fortresses”. This region is a real gem for archaeologists. In fact, today in the Khorezm region archaeologists have found dozens of ancient cities, ruins of former powerful castles and royal palaces. The most famous of them are Toprak Kala, Kyzyl Kala, Ayaz Kala (“Kala” is translated as a fortress.)
Even today, the colossal sizes of the ruins impress with its magnificence and power. Drive back to Khiva. Overnight at hotel.
Day 12. Khiva – Urgench – Tashkent
Breakfast in the hotel. Free time. Check-out by 12:00 noon. In the afternoon transfer to Urgench railway station and departure with train to Tashkent at 16:25. Overnight in train.
Day 13. Tashkent
Arrive Tashkent at 08:45, transfer to the airport. End of the tour.
