The company was founded in 2005 by a group of nature-loving friends, under the guidance of alpinist couple Alexey and Asya.

What they say:
Having explored the Northern Tian Shan and Almaty region the past 25 years, we are sure we know all the best places.
We offer following activities:
- Trekking – walking and hiking tours from 1 to 9 days in the Northern Tian Shan.
- Climbing: mountaineering and climbing of the peaks of Zailisky Alatau mountains. Mountaineering expeditions to other regions.
- Courses and educational programs: mountaineering school, rock- and ice-climbing courses. A full range of theoretical and practical lessons that teach the skills to climb safely.
We also operate 2 comfortable mountain huts inside the national parks around Almaty. One in the picturesque Turgen gorge, another one at a height of 2700m near the rocky Tuyuk-Su glacier.
We are a team of professionals. We are working hard every day to make your active leisure fun, safe, interesting and memorable. Our guides are continuously upgrading their skills to plan a safe and logical trip, using new technologies and devices, as well as training in leading, medical treatment, etiquette etc. We use only our own up to date certified equipment to provide you with a comfortable outdoor stay.
Our mission is – to do our best to provide you with your great adventure!
We did a three day hike with these guys, and my partner and I would recommend it because:
1- It was well organised, we were picked up in Almaty, were driven to the Nature reserve, where we were given the borrowed equipment (Tents and Sleeping bags) as well as the food rations. We hiked and camped three day and two nights, after this we were driven back to Almaty.
2- Our guide was knowledgeable, explaining many geological features and in good English or Russian.
3- The company was flexible; our hike was tailored to our time constraints.
4- The hike we did was through stunning scenery.
We had a great time during the organised trip, except for the cold rain =D
We are flying back to Singapore tonight with pleasant memories of Kazakhstan and we wish more success to Asya`s team. Cheers!
I’m just writing to thank you for putting me in touch with Robin and Katarina, which allowed me to join the trekking tour. It was a real challenge at times, but I really enjoyed the experience. It was great to be able to do something different on each day.
I’d also like to mention that Konstantin was a real pleasure to travel with. He was extremely friendly and warm, but at the same time very professional – we all felt totally safe with him. And enjoyed his company!
Thank you again
Dear Asya,
I just want to say we had a brilliant time on our trek. Denis was absolutely amazing, cooking and looking afterwards Rosalie and I in all sorts of weather!
Thanks for a great week.
Gerard and Rosalie
Hi! just wanted to say I had an amazing experience last week! Dennis was a great guide, took us so far off the beaten path we didn’t know if we’d ever return hahah. It was very well organised and there was ample food and breaks, I couldn’t have planned it any better! I fell in love with the countryside of Kazakhstan, can’t wait to go back!
Everything fine – we had a great weekend! No problems.
Just a quick note to let you know that Norm and I thoroughly enjoyed today’s hike (with Alex as our guide). It certainly wasn’t the easiest of hikes for “an old couple” like us (60 and nearly 59), but it was a great challenge and we are really proud that we are still able to do a hike like this. We hope to do something again next year in May.
Once again, thank you for your flexibility and for a lovely day.
We never planned or expected to visit Kazakhstan, but I had a conference in Astana and we decided to make the most of it. Thanks to Asya, we are bonafide head over heels in love with this amazing country and will definitely be back again. We spent three comfy nights here and have never slept so well! The sound of rushing river and the “nice-to-meet-you” bird songs will lull you to happy vivid dreams. Both of our daytime adventures were fantastic. I took too many photos of the Assy Plateau, and the waterfall hike was great. Thank you to Ainura for her amazing camp cooking. This is a culinary destination in the outback. And huge kudos to Maria (Marya?) for her expert guiding (and offroad/muddy driving)! She helped us to better understand this fabulous corner of the planet.
Keep hiking ‘til you drops, folks!! :)
Thank you for an amazing trek! Both Gio and I were blown away by the amazing landscape.
I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the Tuyuk-su Trek with Alex — I hope to return to Kazakhstan soon.
Alexey took me on a day hike to the glacier. He picked me up promptly from my hotel and drove me up above Medeu to their storage hut. This meant that all the walking was in the beautiful mountains, and little time spent lower down amongst the traffic. Alexey was great company, and very interesting and informative talking about his extensive mountaineering career. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a day hike in the mountains, but who lacks their own transport and local knowledge.
We had a great time, the only thing we regret is not staying longer. We are really pleased with the program proposed by Asya, and her friendly staff.
Highly recommended ??
We had a fantastic 2 day hiking trip to Shymbulak and Touyuk-Su with Dimitri. The scenery and views were beautiful. Dimitri was very knowledgeable, with some great stories of his experiences and he looked after us very well and safely, including during stormy weather. We’d really recommend Trekking Club and would happily go on another trip.
My wife and I joined the 3-day Trek and Tour of Turgen in late August and thoroughly enjoyed the experience that Asya arranged for us. We were guided by Maria who proved to be a most professional, competent and gracious host. She made sure that we were warm enough during the cold nights at the campsite, and drove the 4WD so gently and professionally that our jaws literally dropped! The camp in Turgen is very well appointed and Trekking Club has not only selected a beautiful site but invested in good quality tents, equipment and site facilities – you can take a hot shower and even enjoy a sauna. It was my wife’s first camping experience and it left her wanting to go for another camp in the mountains – this is how good Asya is!
This was actually my second experience with them, the first time being a day hike to Manshuk Mametova glacier that I was fortunate enough to have been guided by Asya and Alexei some three years ago. That hike opened my eyes to the riches of Kazakhstan’s nature near Almaty and to the professionalism of Asya and Alexei.
I would heartily recommend the Turgen tour and the Manshuk Mametova glacier hike – in fact anything the Trekking Club does is probably good imho!
Already am looking forward to the next adventure with Maria, Asya and company :-)
I was lucky enough to do an off-season trek in the Turgen in late April, which Asay organized, and I got Dennis as my guide.
The preparation and organization was professional and ensuring I knew what to expect and what to bring, to match the conditions in the mountains in early spring.
Being off season, it was only me and Dennis, and the weather did not play along, so we faced some rather challenging conditions, but here Dennis’ professionalism and experience was evident, as was the quality of the equipment he brought along, like tent and snow shoes. He was a great guide and good company too.
I highly recommend using these guys for shorter or longer tours, they truly know what they are doing, and they’re great people too.
Me and my wife did a day trip from Almaty to the Manshuk Mametova glacier last summer, with Alexey being our guide. He was a really pleasant guide, who clearly knew the area really well and shared his knowledge during our trip. During our trek he gave us different route options based on what kind of terrain we preferred to pass.
Alexey also adapted the trip to our wishes – regarding speed, breaks, route details and when to turn back. He was friendly and in a good mood – seemed to enjoy himself during the trip as well, which made us enjoy it even more.
The transfer to the mountains and back was really pleasant, in a modern and nice car.
We did a one-day trip to Manshuk Mametova glacier in late March. Having done some trekking in Europe I would like to point out that Asya and Alexey are very professional and you will get this impression after a couple of minutes after meeting them. Before the trip they helped us out a lot with different preparations. I would definitely recommend them for hiking and as a tour company overall.
We did the one-day Manshuk Mametova glacier trek in September 2015. Our guide, Alexei, was wonderful and was courteous, professional and extremely knowledgeable. The scenery was breath-taking and it’s hard to believe such spectacular landscapes exist within such proximity to a major city.
I should point out that I’m biased and I think that this part of the world is one of the best-kept secrets on the planet.
As for the tour itself, the communication beforehand was prompt and detailed and the logistics were handled seamlessly.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Caravanistan and Alexey!
Having been lucky enough to complete a few treks in different parts of the world, I can honestly say that Alexey`s company was one of the most professional outfits I’ve experienced — punctual pick-up, comfortable transfer, excellent guides, great gear, plentiful and interesting food, and above all a beautiful, well-paced and superb trek.
I completed the 5-day ‘Journey in Turgen’ trek in July 2015, and can wholly recommend them. Most of my fellow hikers were native Russian speakers, so that was naturally the camp lingua franca, but every effort was made to help this monolingual Englishman understand and adapt! And what gorgeous and varied scenery — from the lush, sticky lower levels of the Turgen valley, to our eventual 4000m pass above a glacier in the snowline.
I’d also recommend a night in their lodge at Turgen — ‘glamping’ tent accommodation, a lovely location, and yet more good food courtesy of the on-site team.
