Transport in Afghanistan

We have written together some info on traveling in Afghanistan by air and land, see the links below to dive right in. Following are some general pointers on moving around in Afghanistan.

Transport in Wakhan Corridor works different than the rest of Afghanistan.

Getting around in Afghanistan

As you are almost certainly aware, Afghanistan is a dangerous place. Violence between groups vying for power is one thing you do not want to get caught up in, and road ambushes are one of the preferred methods to capture foreigners.

Flying from city to city is thus the safest way to travel inside Afghanistan for now. Not only because of ambushes, but also because traffic itself can be lethal in Afghanistan, with Afghans’ reckless driving behaviour making victims left and right.

Do be careful.

PS: it’s not because we have a page on trains in Afghanistan, that there are passenger trains running in Afghanistan. Just trying to be complete.
