I’m not a frequent flyer myself, so this is not a personal opinion, rather a compendium of opinions found around the internet.
Best value for money
First prize for best value for money airline goes to Turkish Airlines. Prices are very reasonable for the service you are getting as reviews are generally very positive. It’s reliable and has a large number of flights in Central Asia.
Not the cheapest, but one of the most reliable airlines flying in Central Asia. Won the 2012 Skytrax award for best airline in Central Asia and India. Gets good reviews for most of their flights, although the Atyrau – Amsterdam flight seems like a bum deal. They have updated their airplanes and employ professional flight attendants who speak English.
Ukraine International Airlines
Definitely one of the cheaper airlines, but according to reviews, service is up to professional standards and flight attendants speak English. There is little mention of flights being delayed or cancelled.
Best of the rest
If you’re expecting more and are willing to pay for it, try Asiana, KLM or Etihad.
If you’re willing to take a chance to save money, try Czech Airlines, Somon Air, Aeroflot, China Southern or Air Baltic. See our low-cost airlines article for more.
Reasons to put airlines in this category: horrible service coupled with high prices, low safety standards, frequent changes and cancellations. Airlines we think you should avoid: Tajik Airlines, Uzbekistan Airways.
