Termez is another one of those provincial places in Uzbekistan where it’s hard to find good value for money. Now that apartment rentals are allowed, this is perhaps your best bet.
In terms of hotels, Meridian is a bit old, but it is still the best in town. 60$ for a room feels fair here. Asson and Ramz, as well as the luxury rooms at Surhon are also ok if you are not paying over 40$, nothing special but everything works.
The cheapest rooms are at Surhon. They are not nice, and not extremely cheap either.
It’s nice to stay near the clock tower and the bazaar, but it isn’t a must. Termez is small and you can always get a taxi or a marshrutka to get around quickly.
Location just behind the archaeological museum, near both the train station and the bazaar, Asson is a decent, if somewhat overpriced hotel. The mattress is hard and the breakfast basic, but the wi-fi is strong, the aircon works, the bathroom is clean and the water is hot.
There are better places to have dinner in the city, we do not recommend their restaurant.
- Everything works
- Hard mattress
- Basic breakfast
- No English
Opened in 2005, the Meridian is in need of upkeep, but it is still the best hotel in town: it is the only place that offers a buffet breakfast, a gym and a sauna. Standard rooms are thr best value for money: spacious, clean and usually offering a good view. The semi-luxe rooms have an odd room design, while the luxury suites are over-the-top large: it’s unlikely you need that much space.
Centrally located across from the clock tower, Surhon had the cheapest rooms in Termez on our last visit: 25$ for a double and 10$ for a single. They feel a bit nasty but the view over the city from the 7th floor is nice. The luxe rooms are spacious, pleasant and not expensive.
- Cheapest standard rooms have a good view over the city from the seventh floor
- Luxe rooms are spacious, pleasant and not expensive

- The carpet was disgusting in the standard rooms
- No english
- Basic breakfast: you can save 3$ by not taking it
