Visit to Baikonur

Hello, we are a couple from Poland and we will be travelling in Kazakhstan in May 2017. We would like to plan 1-2 days in Baikonur. We are interested in visiting the Cosmodrome and the city. It is not important for us if we see rocket launching, more important is the visit to the place itself. We saw many package tours which are extremely expensive and rather dedicated to citizens of Russia. Is there any agency which could assist us with obtaining the permission? Do you have any experience with regard to visiting Baikonur this way?
Thanks a lot!

Hi Vivien,

we can help you with visiting Baikonur. It will be expensive because of permissions etc, but not 5000$-expensive like some. More like 600-700$

The situation is always changing regarding Baikonur, it really depends how much Kazakhstan and Russia like each other this month. Send a request and we will see what is happening right now, if it is possible from KAzakhstan, affordable, etc.

Hello Steven, we are a couple from Italy and we will be travelling in Kazakhstan in July 2019 by the camper car. We need a permission to visit only the town of Baikonur. We not are interested in visiting the Cosmodrome but only the city. Could you assist us with obtaining the permission?
Thanks a lot!

Why would you want to visit Baikonur if you are not going to the Cosmodrome?

If you are driving you can pass by without a permit.

I don't know how to get a permit just for Baikonur that would be at a reasonable price. Cannot help you there.

Dear Steven, thanks for your reply.

We will travel by camper car in July from Aralask to Turkistan, and so we will pass near Baikonur. We thought we could visit the city but if this is a problem for the permit, then we simply pass :-)

I also want to visit that place, but 600-700 dollars for 3 days it's too expensive.
Any other options? Also group tour is very expensive like that?
Thanks

If I'm not mistaken there are no other options. It's a price for a group tour. Individual tour will cost much more, I saw prices 1000 - 3000 usd for an individual tour.
Baikonur tours are expensive. From what I know the cost of the tour mostly goes to Roscosmos (Russian corporation that controls space industry).
So basically Roscosmos sets the prices. And tour companies add some fee. But even with the smallest fee the price can't be cheap as you see.
