Irkeshtam Pass: Kyrgyzstan (Osh - Sary Tash) to China (Kashgar)
We crossed over from Kyrgyzstan to China via the Irkeshtam pass a week ago so can give a quick update of our experiences for anyone it might help. We took a taxi from Osh to Sara Tosh and then hitched a ride on a lorry from Sara Tosh to the border. If you're buying food, I'd do it in Osh before you ...

Echo that thought about making up insurance.
I gave her an insurance certificate that wasn't even valid for Iran. She just glanced at it and accepted it.

Re: Iran -driving through with own vehicle and getting a vis
Can't help much except to say we saw a few westerns riding motorcycles across Iran. So it might be possible to bring your own car.

Re: Uzbekistan > Turkmenistan: sleeping between the borders?
We took the Konya Urgench to Nukus border crossing. I'd recommend it, it's empty. We were the only people crossing the border, it took a few minutes. However, there is no way you can sleep between the borders. There isn't a place to pitch up a tent, just a road bordered by fences. If you pitched up,...

Re: Iran visa for UK passport holder
We used Moj - mojirantrip@gmail.com. He organized everything for us. Very honest, very reliable guy. Also knows his stuff. If he's busy, ask him to put you in touch with Hasan who showed 'Rich and Ski' around. He'll know what you mean. Both are great people. When you get a price, you can usually neg...

Re: Iranian Embassy in Yerevan, Armenia Report
Did you have to spend all your time in Iran with your guide? How much did this cost and how were you travelling? Since we booked with a tour operator, we spent most of the time with the guide. He had a car so that was useful in getting around. It cramped our style a little. However, there were plen...

Re: Iran visa for UK passport holder
Hi, I'm a UK passport holder, my wife is Lithuanian. We spent 2 weeks in Iran in September. I did a lot of research on this and asked around. This is what I learned. If you're British/Canadian/American they don't issue an MFA unless you've booked with a tour agency. Some said this was a big scam by ...

Iranian Embassy in Yerevan, Armenia Report
Due to being rejected for an Iranian Visa earlier, (see this thread) I had to collect my visa from the Iranian Embassy in Armenia, the last stop before we enter the stans on our round the world trip. I'm British. We used Moj http://mojirantrip.com/ as our guide/general visa arranger. I recommend him...

Re: Iranianvisa.com - anyone else have problems
Wanted to share our experience. We originally applied by IranianVisa. However, the next day we learned that UK, Canada, and USA citizens are no longer able to travel independently (all agencies we spoke to said this). Therefore, we informed IranianVisa to cancel (we hadn't paid) and went through ano...
