the official website said the WNG is from Sep 8 (Sun) to Sep 14 (Sat)
https://worldnomadgames.kz/en
does anyone know if the opening ceremony will fall on the eve of the games ie Sep 7 (Sat) or on the actual first day itself: Sep 8 (Sun)?
has the opening ceremony always been a evening/night event ?
just need to know in order to arrive in time from another country

Hi,
I think I will be in Kyrgyzstan at the time of the world nomad games (https://worldnomadgames.com/en/).
Has anyone been or thinking of going?

About the opening night: last time in Turkey we expected it to be on the night before the first day, olympics style. When we showed up they were stil rehearsing and putting in the grass mats. It turned out to be on the evening of the first day (still think that’s weird). The communication back then was a drama, but I considered it being due to the fact that it was a pure erdogan propaganda party and they didn’t really put in an effort to attract or inform foreigners.
I do hope that the communication and organisation Will be better this year, but it’d be safer to just assume that it’s a gamble.

they started charging for watching games this year. i thought it has always been free, but only payable for opening and closing ceremony.

In Turkey even the ceremony was free. Still, I think an entrance fee for the event seems completely fair, but sport-specific tickets I’m less fond of. At least it’s still affordable.

We are going to the games this fall and are looking for hotel recommendations. Having never been to Astana, I am not sure if there will be hotels close or what transportation to and from will be available. Anyone have any suggestions?

just stay in astana proper, and you would need a car to get around. i mean those archery and horses type of games are not gonna be in the middle of city. so my guess is some dirt road or off road to get there. but my experience with soviet countries is locals always bulldoze their way through with whatever car they have, so i am hoping a sedan is sufficient for me to go to the games venue
