Gearing up for central asia summer trekking

Post by tcarlyle »

Hi all,
Ill be heading for a few trekks in central asia during the summer (mid July - mid August) and we are now checking our gears. I've thought of taking the following gear and Id be glad to hear some feedback from others

Clothes
1 merino wool underlayer
comfortable underpants (4-5?)

1 long sleeve tshirt
2-3 dry-fit tshirts
fleece or small down jacket
hiking pants (water repellent)
perhaps 1 more very ligth pants

rain/wind proof jacket
gloves (in between simple wool and mittens)
rain pant
beanie
neck warmer

4-5 pairs of hiking socks (from light to moderate warm)
hiking boot

papete
sun hat
sunglasses
quick dry towel (microfiber)
hiking sticks

water bottle (can be just a plastic one bought there)
head lamp and extra batteries
survival blanket

sleeping bag (-1 comfort)
camping mattress
mini pillow

Common
tent
sun block
cooking stove, pot, dishes, cups
salt
water purifying tabs
dry food
dry meat
sugar for water
wire to dry cloths
gps
gps batteries (loads of it)
duck tape
washing powder
detergent for cleaning hands
toothpaste, soap and shampoo (toothbrushes are individual =D)
compass
knife

Common to be bought there:[\u]

powder milk, powder chocolate
cereal for breakfast
nuts/cereal bars

I have been a bit unsure about the rain pants. It seems that the region is pretty dry and that rain is usually short and clothes would dry fast. What do you think?
