Plane tickets to Ashgabat

Been looking for airline tickets to Ashgabat this summer and they are really expensive. Does anybody know why?

Been looking to go to Turkmenistan from Azerbaijan, and the only direct flight is with Lufthansa it seems. But its crazy expensive.
Ist cheaper if you fly up to Moscow, but thats a far stretch just to get over the Caspian sea...

Hi wolverine,

Turkmen Airlines tickets do not show up in flight search engines, you need to look it up through an agent old-school style. I think there is a direct Baku-Ashgabat flight.

Hi,

I just had this EXACT struggle getting plane tickets to Ashgabat - Albeit from London.

Whatcha gotta do is go through an agent. After talking to numerous dodgy dealers, we used Ayan Travel, who were brilliant.

However, looking at Ashgabat airport flight arrivals, it seems only United and Lufthansa fly from Baku - not Turkmenistan Airlines!

We paid USD230/person from Dubai (which is a major hub) on Fly Dubai. Was a 3hr flight.

ps slightly off topic but Ashgabat airport is REALLY cool.
