Wakhan corridor - tour operator Q&A
Re: ANY TOUR OPERATOR in WAKHAN CORRIDOR???
Assuming you are talking about the Afghan Wakhan, I haven't heard anything good about local operators.
Apparently there is a guy in Ishkashim who offers really, really bad services. I suspect that booking through an foreign/international tour operator would be the best assurance of quality, but that would be expensive. Simply buying transportation from Ishkashim up to the Pamir knot would be the cheap DIY way to do it.

Bwv812, are you talking about wafoula or Adventure wakhan run by adab shah?
ZenitramF, did you see our article on wakhan corridor already? I met up with matthieu paley who is an expert on the place and wrote down some of his travel tips, so i think there is some useful and unique info there.

Re: Wakhan corridor - tour operator Q&A
Hello all,
We recently (July 2017) took a trip to the Wakhan Corridor via Ishkashim crossing. We used a guide and a driver. Both were very caring and we had a great time with them. It was an amazing 7 days in the Afghan Wakhan. Security was not an issue even in Ishkashim when we were there although heavy army appearance, and once we are in the Wakhan it was absolutely peaceful and worry-free.
Cost breakdown:
Ishkashem Border to Registration Offices Pick-up/Drop-off (round-trip): $30
Permit Help: $40 for both of us
Guide: $30/day
Driver and Car: $350 one-way from Ishkashem to Sarhad ($700 round-trip)
We hired Yar Mohammad as our guide, he was incredible and personable, spoke great English, sincere and experienced.
You can contact him on his facebook https://www.facebook.com/yarmohammad.attahi or the below -
His email: [email protected]
Tajij number: +992 501866930
Afghan number:+93 795775822
Hope this is helpful for you! Have a great trip!

Visit to Afghan Wakhan from Ishkashim
Just returned after a five day visit to the Afghan Wakhan. Great trip from Eshkashim to Sarhad e Broghil and a hike to Broghil pass. Had great luck of meeting Kyrgyz people in Sarhad e Broghil, they came from their village of Manora 7 days trekking on horse. I organized it via guide Hameed ([email protected]; also on facebook https://www.facebook.com/abdullhamid.azizi). He was great and we had an equally great driver.
It felt very safe, though there were some incidents around April 2017 when Taliban got close to Eshkashim. You need to check the situation before going. The Afghan consulate in Khorog can give some valuable information too. They process visas almost immediately. The visa there costs between $150 to $200 (if you are a US passport holder).

Re: Wakhan corridor - tour operator Q&A
Hi Daniel (and everyone else):
My sisters and I are considering a trip to the Wakhan corridor. Something very short (1 week) with flights in and out of Dushanbe or another close-option so that we have maximum flexibility. Does this sound reasonable? Thanks for any advice you may have!
