Currently in Thailand & am looking at planning a route back to Europe by train.
So far i think i've vaguely covered Bangkok to Aktua but thats where i reach a dead end
Is the boarder open into Baku if I were to take a ferry? If not, any talks on it reopening? I would be crossing around the 1st week of July
If this is not possible, can anyone suggest another route from Kazak to Turkey without getting on a plane?
Thailand to Turkey by train
Re: Thailand to Turkey by train
You'll need to use the search function here and do some googling. There are long threads about the Caspian ferry and the (continued) closure of Azeri borders (and the possible alternative routes via Russia or Turkmenistan/Iran) on Caravanistan.

look here: https://rail.cc/train/bangkok-to-warsaw
From Bangkok to Warsaw ( you can try another option ), but maybe it's not so actually.... and it's via Russia.

Most trains in this link have not run since the pandemic started, and it includes borders closed to third-country nationals. A great journey five years ago, now worthless for planning.Lutnistas1969 wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 12:54 pmlook here: https://rail.cc/train/bangkok-to-warsaw

OP, you need to do some research on the situation, as sebhoff suggested. The most straightforward way is Atyrau - Astrakhan - Vladikavkaz - Georgia - Turkey.
