In December 2016, it was announced that the visa-free regime would be expanded starting April 1, 2017. Citizens of Australia, Austria, Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, South Korea, Singapore, Finland, Switzerland and Japan could enter the country without a visa for tourism purposes for up to 30 days, it was said.
Citizens aged 55 or over from Belgium, China, Czechia, France, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal, United States and Vietnam would have been able to enter Uzbekistan without a visa for up to 30 days for tourism purposes. Tourists from all 27 countries would have had to pay a $50 entrance fee.
On January 9, 2017, the proposed new visa-free regime was postponed until January 1, 2021!
Latest updates are gathered in the visa-free section of the Uzbek visa page.

Steven, it would be good if you could place a not on the website too, so that people planning trips to/through Uzbekistan have information.

New Uzbekistan visa-free entry for 30 days from 01/04/2017
Hi, I notice that Uzbekistan has just announced visa-free entry for 30 days for 27 nations from the first of April 2017 ...
Australia, Austria, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Canada, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Finland, Switzerland and Japan are unrestricted as to the age of the citizen, weirdly, the other 12 nations have to be over 55 years old at entry to qualify for visa-free entry ... Belgium, China, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal, USA and Vietnam.

Hi,
Great news, one visa less to apply (we are over 55 years old).
50$ is for each person at border post?

Yes, every visitor entering Uzbekistan on the visa free baises will have to pay $50. The article doesn't say anything if it applies for the already visa free entries.roro wrote:Hi,

What is the major reason for some countries need to be 55 years old or more ? Any explanation ?

I'm guessing that the government wants to open up tourism but not quite ready to let everyone in. Fingers crossed with the new president it should get better on a cosmic speed!laurent_rio wrote:What is the major reason for some countries need to be 55 years old or more ? Any explanation ?
