Re: Pamir Highway checkpoints
I had a bad, then good experience on the Kargush pass recently. I was cycling solo via the pass early Oct 2016 and had my bags pulled apart and searched like nothing else by the two guards in the middle of a sand storm. They split my bags into two spots so I couldn't keep an eye on things. The went ...

Re: Turkmenistan transit visa in Bishkek
Hi all, I applied for my Turkmen transit visa in Bishkek, to be picked up in Dushanbe, about 4 weeks ago. After a few phone calls today I got an email with what seems an invitation in the form of an attachment. All details are correct, but I can't see my entry and exit dates. Anyone know what I'm ex...

Re: Embassy report: Tajik visa in Bishkek
I had my Tajik visa processed in under 45 minutes today, Australian passport. $75USD for 45 days and with GBAO. Guards and lady behind counter super friendly. It really pays to be really organised and to fill out your forms before you arrive to keep on their good side. I could see some frustration w...

Actually I managed to get Iran, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan visas all in under 36 hours. Made a rush to Turkmenistan embassy to ...

Can't buy Markus Hauser's map of the Pamirs - anywhere.
Hi there, I'm having a lot of difficulty purchasing Markus Hauser's Map of the Pamirs. I've made two attempts to buy it online and needed to get a refund because i was told it was being re-printed and won't be available until early August. On Amazon it's $480! Anyone have any luck getting a copy? Am...
