Re: Embassy report: Russian visa in Bishkek
we applied for a transit visa in June 2019 to cross the Altai region to get to Mongolia's western border crossing, i.e. ca. 1200 km The answer on our first informal inquiry at the consulate in Osh was that we would not get more than 4 days In Bishkek, we presented our case in detail, outlining our r...

Re: Russian visa as a tourist in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Inquired via a travel agency at Russian embassy in KL on the possibility to get a visa 'on-the-road' as a tourist (Swiss national) currently stranded in Malaysia. Reply was negative: Only if persons involved in the commissioning and maintenance of foreign equipment (visa maintenance type) they can a...

Re: Diesel quality in Kazakhstan?
I just noticed the discussion went on about other Stan-countries. Following Iran, we did TKM, UZB, KZG and will soon enter TJK. We never had a problem … never! and this with a 2013 Euro5. In UZB you may find it more challenging to find Diesel, but on our route from Nukus to Fergana it wasnt really a...

Re: Diesel quality in Kazakhstan?
Hi, I have an MAN 18.340 Euro5. I deliberately bought it in 2013, i.e. before E6 was introduced and AdBlue became unavoidable. I can tell you I was shit-scarred about high sulphur diesel in some countries and all the stories about blocked filters and stuff. Bottom Line: we crossed Iran (!!!) twice, ...

Re: Uzbekistan new registration system from July 2018
Update of my post of Fri May 03, 2019: We left UZB yesterday at Dostuk to KGZ with our camping car. Based on the information we received from the OVIR officer in Nukus, which we later got confirmed from the Tourist Police in Chiva and a phone call to the govt helpline, we never registered anywhere a...

Re: Buying fuel in Iran
Update on my comment of 17 Dec 2018: in April 2019 we travelled south to north from Bandar Abbas via Kerman, Yazd and Tabas to Mashhad. Same story as last year: south of Yazd its tricky to get Diesel, either pump attendants dont have or pretend not to have a card or let you fill with the filling run...

Re: Uzbekistan new registration system from July 2018
We (2 Swiss, no visa required) arrived yesterday in Uzbekistan. As we are self driving our camping car, we are not going to hotels. Today (3 May 2019) we went to the OVIR office in Nukus (42.464244 59.61714), to clarify the question of registration and to register if necessary. A very friendly and h...

Re: Buying fuel in Iran
we crossed Iran north to south from early Sept to early Nov 2018 with a big rig. we made it an habit to fill up once we used 200 Liters of Diesel. Official price for locals with card was 300 Toman/L. For us, the filling station attendant used his card, with which the price changed to 600 This was ba...

Re: Embassy report: Iranian visa in Trabzon
We (2 Swiss) checked before by phone if our RNs have arrived; we were asked to call back in 10min … so we did and got confirmation RNs have arrived. We asked what to bring along beside our passports, answer: nothing Went to consulate on Friday morning, consul remembered us calling before, asked if w...
