Hi Dean, I was on the road back home so no meeting on the road unfortunately. I like also your idea to impulse school kids towards exploration, outer and inner!

The Uralsk consulate webpage is : https://uralsk.mid.ru/ It's in Russian, but don't worry, scroll down to find a section written VISA in english. Click on it to have the instr...

Re: Embassy report: Russian visa in Almaty
About my last post, I managed to fill the online form using Chrome on another computer, and still not working with IEor Firefox, despite the russian website advising to use those latter ones. For those interested, I could apply for my russian transit visa in Uralsk instead of Almaty. I'll create a t...

Re: Caspian sea ferry updates & questions
When i checked in september, last dates were from april! It seems they started to update again. Better use it in parallel to calling directly the port.
As far as i understood, only profesor gul and merkury 1 take passengers.

Re: Border crossing Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan Kaplanbek Tamozhnya
I crossed from UZ to KZ. Waited 1h at the door, passed through a thorough check of all vehicle including roof tent (1st time in 13 borders!) where the agent left a mess and took out my child's bear to make childish if not mocking gestures... Totally rude. Waited 30min in no man's land with friendly ...

Re: Driving Nukus - Kungrad - Beyneu - Aktau
Hi, Use the iOverlander App for petrol stations, there are now stations in all major towns showed on the app. No more black market needed I think. We found always Ai95 which is Benzine 95. Check the app but I think there is also always a Diesel station in every major town. Only in Urgench we filled ...

Re: Uzbekistan new registration system from July 2018
Registration : we did not use the online system ourselves, but all the hotels we have been ( 4 hotels during 7 nights in 15 days : we camped the other nights) used this system to register us. So they pay a fee where entering our details and that's why they usually charge a little bit more. They can ...

Re: Caspian sea ferry updates & questions
Don't think about it. In Merkury 1, there's a little salon where it's written wifi, but It's not working. Actually, it doesn't even exist. Services are VERY basic. If you know the date of your job interview, just hang around Baku, waiting for the ferry. Leave at least 3 full days (72 hours) between ...
