Hi there, Not sure if this will help you but I spoke to the lady we work with in China this week ( for over-landing with our own vehicle)and she told me the Zangmu border is still closed since the bad earthquake.

Company in London does a superb job and gets the visa done at the K embassy in LDN. There is no kyrg embassy in SA. Company that does this is Travcour. We have found them to be super efficient. We stayed in a yurt camp at Nurata. We were lucky to be the only 2 people there, and it was lovely. It was cooking hot and the advantage was that the camp had access to a lake about 10 min drive away from it. We opted to swim and not do any camel trip....
