Kyrgyzstan coronavirus travel re-opening/restrictions Q&A
Re: Kyrgyzstan coronavirus travel re-opening/restrictions Q&A
If I understand correctly, this was the Kyrgyz post simply telling you that you are allowed to leave the country there. It's still possible there could be additional issues when you get to the Tajik border control at the top of the pass (though bribery seems to work well in the event of genuine issues).

Bor Dobo - Kyzyl Art Crossing
Hi everybody,
Sorry for the suspense. We could actually cross 10 days ago but did not get internet since then ! We are now in Khorog.
The border guards were as nice on the Tajik side, they welcomed us with warm tea and bread. Again, we did not have to insist or pay anything, they just said it was open !
They did not ask for PCR-test and did not seem to care about it, which was lucky for us because as cyclists it was impossible to get one. The custom guy asked quickly if we were vaccinated, but that was after we got the stamp from border guards. He did not even ask for a proof when we said yes (even tho we had a proof).
We also met cyclists from the Netherlands in the no man's land going the other way, so it looks safe to say that it is open both ways for (European?) tourists.
Also, as mentioned before, they were still doing some big works on the Kyrgyz side and it was not possible for a truck to cross when we did it. We asked about it and they said the works should be finished on the 16th (today then, looking at my calendar). They also said that it would be the "official reopening" date.
Anyway, even if officially closed... it seems it is not anymore !
Good travels and good luck to everybody,
Charlie

Exactly what border crossing are they referring to? The one near Karakul?

Re: Kyrgyzstan coronavirus travel re-opening/restrictions Q&A
Per these guys who are now travelling Pamirs with car, the Bor Dobo - Kyzylart border crossing is open currently only for cyclists, not for cars
Cant really understand the logic behind it, but Tajikistan
edit: I talked to the guys and they been there in last week of August, so its not relevant anymore if someone can confirm they manage to cross by cars.

Flew on Turkish to Bishkek this morning. I can confirm that having a digital EU vaccination certificate is enough for boarding in Istanbul and at immigration in Bishkek.

We (two cyclists) also crossed from Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan at Kyzyl Art recently.

That’s great to hear! I’m planning on making the same journey on foot within the next couple of weeks. Can you please describe your experience in greater detail? Did the border guards give you any trouble or ask you for a PCR test result? Is the road still impassable in a vehicle?
